Airports and Ports in Crete

You can reach Crete by plane or boat. Thousands of visitors arrive on domestic and foreign flights every day. There are also daily ferries from the Port of Piraeus to Crete.

There are 2 major airports on Crete, the Heraklion International Airport (Nikos Kazantzakis) and Chania Airport (Ioannis Daskaloyiannis). Both are near the corresponding cities:

• Heraklion Airport: 5 kilometres from Heraklion
• Chania Airport: 12 kilometres from Chania

There are 6 passenger ports on Crete:

• Port of Kissamos (Kastelli), just outside the town. Ferries to Kythira and Antikythira only.
• Port of Souda, 14 kilometres from Chania
• Port of Rethymnon
• Port of Heraklion
• Port of Agios Nikolaos
• Port of Sitia
